
Britt is a Licensed Master Social Worker with over 7 years of experience working with youth, adults and families in a variety of therapeutic environments. He graduated from the University of Maryland, Baltimore with his master’s degree in Social Work and is currently a LMSW. He specializes in utilizing a strengths-based approach along with motivational interviewing to address behavior, depression, anxiety, and adjustment issues with youth and adults. He works with clients to improve their independent living, communication, focus, attention, listening skills, and interpersonal relationships. Britt implements a variety of therapeutic interventions such as cognitive based therapy (CBT), dialectical based therapy (DBT), mindfulness and solution-focused therapy. Britt prefers to utilize a person-centered philosophy to create a safe environment and further help clients realize their potential.
Britt has prior experience working with youth and adolescents in a variety of therapeutic settings. He began his mental health career as a counselor and crisis intervention specialist at a residential treatment center. During his time as a counselor and crisis intervention specialists, Britt developed and utilized dialectical behavioral therapy and crisis de-escalation techniques to help youth cope and address behavioral issues. Britt has also worked as an employment specialist assisting youth and adults with intellectual and behavioral disabilities procure employment. During his advanced year field placement, Britt provided individual and family psychotherapy to youth and their families with behavioral and oppositional disorders. Britt earned his master’s degree of Social Work from the University of Maryland, Baltimore and is currently employed as a Therapeutic Mentor, working with youth to improve their independent living and social skills.
Britt served 2 years in the Peace Corps in Information Technology and as an English Literacy educator at a secondary school in a remote village located in the island country of Vanuatu in the South Pacific. During his time in the Peace corps, Britt realized he had a passion for mental health and assisting youth and adults address their mental health issues. In his free time, Britt enjoys practicing Jiu Jitsu, traditional archery, the outdoors and reading.
