Casey has experience and training in a variety of clinical approaches working with populations including children, families, parents, First Responders, wounded, ill and injured service members as well as military dependents. Casey specializes in providing art therapy with a trauma informed approach while integrating attachment and polyvagal theory from a strength based perspective.
[Polyvagal theory is basically a theory of how our nervous system works and helps or hinders our ability to connect with others. It describes how our nervous system reacts to our experiences and also how we regulate ourselves in response in order to navigate the situation safely. It is essentially how our body experiences fight, flight, freeze, and fawn responses. This theory considers our drive to survive and how this intersects with our longing to connect with others. So, when one nervous system reads cues from another person’s nervous system we either co-regulate and are open to new experiences, OR the reactivity increases and we revert to survival instincts and patterns.]
Casey provides art therapy and traditional therapeutic services to children and adults with a wide range of common challenges including:
- Sensory Processing Disorder
- Sensory Sensitivities
- Potty difficulties
- Family Dynamic Work
- Attachment Relationships
- Grief & Loss
Casey believes that developing a strong, trusting, therapeutic relationship with the client is crucial to creating a strength-based and client centered experience. Her sessions focus on personal growth, social-emotional wellbeing, and growing each client’s coping skill “tool box.”
In her leisure time, Casey enjoys spending time with her family and pets, being in nature, bee keeping, and creating art of all kinds.
