Matt Frasca, Founder of First Line & LCPC
Matt, founder of First Line Counseling, graduated from Johns Hopkins University with honors, a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and is currently a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, (LCPC). Matt began First Line Counseling because his passion is providing support to First Responders. Besides his work at First Line, he also works with the Metropolitan Police Employee Assistance Program providing support to DC law enforcement officers. His work with first responders is his passion.
Matt completed two internships during his time at Johns Hopkins, one at Ten Ten Counseling where he worked with clients ranging from children to adults. The second internship was at Harbor of Grace Recovery Center where he counseled individuals suffering from substance abuse disorders. Both internships offered a unique learning experience allowing him to obtain the skills necessary to address a wide variety of issues. Matt has also received specialized training in child-centered play therapy, art interventions, self-regulation for children with aggressive behaviors, Gestalt, traumatic grief, sexual trauma, which are all approved by the Association for Play Therapy (APT).
In addition, Matt has worked stressful, high demand jobs and understands what kind of pressure can be placed on individuals in these types of careers. He is the Founder of First Line Counseling, a retired First Responder with 18+ years of service, has held elected board member positions in multiple professional organizations, a licensed therapist (LCPC) and dedicated family man. His years of experience have afforded him a unique skill set that few others can claim. Due to his diverse background, he has developed a world-view, full of empathy, compassion and understanding. Subsequently, Matt has helped his clients break through the obstacles that seem to be holding them back in life. Matt meets his clients where they are, and his remarkable authenticity creates immeasurable comfort and trust with his clients. Matt enjoys time spent with his spouse of nearly 20 years, his teenage children as well as traveling and fishing.
