Natalie Gwin, Psy.D.
Dr. Natalie Gwin is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who obtained her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University, Washington, D.C. in 2013. During her program she completed an internship at the Syracuse Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center in Syracuse, NY. While at her internship she worked at the Syracuse VA Outpatient Mental Health Clinic and the Syracuse VA Medical Center, Rehabilitation/Spinal Cord Injury Unit. She provided individual and group psychotherapy sessions using empirically-supported treatments to address PTSD, anxiety, depression, marital/family conflict, sleep difficulties and anger management. Additionally, she provided individual and family sessions with Veterans with a variety of medical diagnoses, such as spinal cord injuries (SCI), amputation and traumatic brain injuries (TBI).
During her Pre-Doctoral program, Dr. Gwin also completed two externships:
- Washington Medical Group, Washington, D.C.
A wellness and rehabilitation center where she provided services to adults with traumatic brain injuries and a variety of neurological conditions with a co-morbid diagnosis of PTSD, anxiety and depression
- Family Support Center, Bethesda, MD
A non-profit organization where she provided therapeutic services, to include individual and group therapy, to pre-adolescents, adolescents and young adults with depression, anxiety, trauma and adjustment disorder.
Dr. Gwin also obtained her Master’s Degree (M.A.) in Forensic Psychology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York, NY.
Dr. Gwin is a full time active 14-year veteran First Responder who has experience providing therapeutic services to her fellow First Responders, such as Police and Fire & Rescue, to include their family members. Additionally, she has experience providing services for Active Duty Military. Dr. Gwin utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for the treatment of Anxiety Disorders, PTSD and Depression, as well as Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) in the treatment of trauma. She also integrates mindfulness-based interventions. As a First Responder she knows the difficulties that not only come with the job, but for those who find themselves struggling and seeking help. She is approachable, friendly, non-judgmental and meets her clients where they are.
In addition to all the work she does with First Responders, Dr. Gwin has experience working with adults, adolescents and families. When working with adolescents she is quick to build rapport, connect, and get on their level making her very successful with this group. In her spare time, Dr. Gwin loves traveling the world with her husband and exploring different Top Chef restaurant experiences. She enjoys reading, running races and spending time with her French Bulldog.
